1. Introduction

AltGen is operated by Better Version, Inc. ("AltGen", "we", "us"), a Delaware corporation headquartered at 28 Geary Street, STE 650 Suite #228, San Francisco, CA 94108, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

We collect:

• Account details — name, email address, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).
• Workspace information — organization name and members you invite.
• Content you submit for processing — the images or image URLs you upload, scan, or import, and the alt text we generate for them.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
• Usage data — IP address, browser type, and how you interact with the product, for debugging and analytics.

3. How we use your information

We use this information to:

• Provide and operate the service, including generating alt text for the images you submit.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions and AppSumo lifetime deal codes.
• Send service notifications, such as generation completion or billing events.
• Provide customer support.
• Monitor, debug, and improve the reliability of the service.

4. Image processing and storage

Images you submit are sent to a vision AI model to generate alt text, and the resulting text (and, where applicable, a reference to the image) is stored in your workspace so you can review, edit, and export it. We do not use your images or generated content to train AI models, and we do not sell or share it with third parties beyond the processors listed below.

5. Sub-processors

We rely on the following sub-processors to operate AltGen:

• Cloudflare — content delivery, and object storage (R2) for uploaded images.
• MongoDB — primary database.
• Google Cloud — background job processing and scheduled tasks.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• AppSumo — lifetime deal code redemption, for customers who purchase through AppSumo.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Featurebase — customer support, feedback, and product roadmap.

6. Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies required to keep you signed in and to protect your account. See our Cookie Policy for details.

7. Data retention

We retain your account and workspace data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and generated content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records (for example, billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us. If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what data we hold about you and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell your personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
